The 30 > What is it?

What is it?

To be active, you don’t have to be an athlete or go into a training program. Instead, you have to find opportunities to be active in your daily life. It takes imagination, motivation, and finding the time you need. For example, you can choose to walk or bike rather than drive short distances, and get moving on a regular basis, rather than simply sitting in front of the television or computer.

The 30-minute goal

If you make a point of being active for at least 30 minutes a day, it could make a noticeable difference to your health and improve your well-being and quality of life.

Three short 10-minute walks at different times of the day yield the same benefits as a 30-minute walk. Every minute counts!

And for our children?

Children and adolescents also benefit by being active. They stay healthy and they have fun. In their case, we suggest that they accumulate closer to 60 minutes of physical activity a day. But for those who are less active, doing 30 minutes a day is already a good start. In any case, if it’s possible, why not be active with them?

Are you active enough?

TAKE THE TEST!

In the last few weeks, how many days per week have you done 30 minutes or more of physical activity? To answer this question, think of the physical activity that you do at work, when you are going places, at home, or during your free time.

  • Less than 1 day
  • 1 or 2 days
  • 3 or 4 days
  • 5 days or more

YOUR RESULT?

5 days or more: Bravo! Keep it up and encourage your family and friends!
3 or 4 days: You’ve got the habit, and that’s very good. Now, just a bit more and you’ll have it made!
1 or 2 days: Some is much better than none. More would be even better!
Less than 1 day: Find an activity you like and get moving gradually.
